Richard Anthony Capilitan

January 18, 2002 | Page 4

Dear Socialist Worker,

Richard Anthony Capilitan of San Diego died on November 24 at the age of 28. Richard joined the International Socialist Organization last April. He was an active member and treasurer of the San Diego City branch at the time of his death.

Richard participated in last year's binational protest against the Free Trade Area of the Americas, attended Socialist Summer School in Chicago and took part in the student antiwar conference at the University of California-Berkeley in October.

He was always willing to do whatever he could for the movement. His home was a frequent location of discussion groups, meetings and sign-making parties. Beyond his activism, Richard was one of the most kindhearted and generous people you could ever meet. He will be missed.

Chris Hardnack, San Diego
